This week’s Torah portion is 1 of 3 passages in the Hebrew Bible where the Israelites are enjoined to lend to needy people without charging interest!

Hebrew Free Loan Association of San Antonio (HFLA-SA) has been providing interest free loans for 100 years.

We offer financial assistance by providing interest-free loans for various types of temporary financial needs. Whether you are experiencing an emergent crisis, need assistance with unexpected expenses, or personal/financial economic challenges, we can help!

Jewish Free Loan Societies throughout the world were established based in large measure on two pesukim in the Hebrew Bible:

• “If you lend money to My people, even to the poor among you, do not act toward them as a creditor; you shall not charge them interest.” – Exodus 22:24 (Parasha Mishpatim)

 • “You shall not lend him your money at interest or give him your food for profit.” – Leviticus 25:37 (Parasha Vayikra)

HFLA-SA was established in 1924 exclusively to serve as the Jewish community’s agency that follows this mandate. HFLA-SA can help individuals and families in our community who need a temporary financial hand-up with interest-free loans. If we can help you or someone you know, please visit www.hfla-sa.org or call 210.736.4352.
